I was responsible for the early development of the look for the architecture in Ascendant:Infinity.
These were done after a direction change to figure out the general look and approach of the different architectural styles in the game.
One of the big components of the art direction at the time was technology using plant growth as power supply and conduit, and more organically constructed buildings. These explored some overall ideas and assets in that vein.
Another big component was that the old, abandoned architecture that predates the current civilization is a more retro, brutalist style. The organic architecture and technology would be constructed over top of it by the new inhabitants.
These were done over a screenshot of the in-game level to get a sense of what it would look like applied in the game.
